Computer repair in Cornwall

Cornwall is a peninsula with one rail spine and a habit of being further away than a postcode map suggests. A part that is 'overnight' to Bristol can still be a patient wait in a town west of Truro. This page links only the Cornwall guides we have written.

Cornwall town guides

A long county with a short list of guides

Three Cornwall guides exist here: Truro, Liskeard and Saltash. That is not the county. Falmouth, Penryn, St Austell, Newquay, Bodmin, Penzance, St Ives, Launceston, Bude and the Lizard have no page yet. If you are in one of those places, do not read the Truro guide as a promise that someone will drive to you. It is a description of the city, not a county call-out map.

Saltash shares a skyline with Plymouth and a labour market with it, but the river is the county boundary. Liskeard is the south-east market town on the A38, useful for the Looe valley and the stretch toward Bodmin, not for West Penwith. Truro is where many civic and shopping trips already end. Those are three different jobs.

Why distance changes a repair

The main line runs from the Tamar to Penzance. Branches drop to Looe, Falmouth, Newquay and St Ives. The A30 and the A38 are the road spine, and they jam in holiday weeks. A workshop that has to order a screen will wait on a courier who still has to cover the peninsula after the van leaves the motorway network. Build that wait into your plans if the laptop is the only way you work that week.

Collection across Cornwall is not a small favour. Fuel, ferries and lanes are the job. If someone offers to fetch a desktop from a farm track, ask where it will be stored and how you get it back if you disagree with the quote. A receipt with a real town on it matters more when the machine has left the peninsula's western end.

Files, salt air and borrowed time

Holiday cottages and fishing towns see damp, sand and drinks tipped into keyboards. A wet machine should stay off and unplugged until someone who knows boards can look. Family photos on a spinning disk in a cupboard in a terraced house are not safe just because a relative uses webmail. Ask for a copy before any wipe, and ask whether that copy stays in Cornwall.

We have not counted the shops in any Cornish town and we do not publish a league table. Empty lists on the town pages mean we have not checked a business yet, not that the towns have no repairers.

Cornwall questions

Does the Saltash page cover Penzance?
No. Saltash is the Tamar crossing. Penzance is the far end of the main line. Using one page for the other would be a trick, so we do not.
Where should a Falmouth reader start?
Read the Truro guide for the nearest city we have described, then treat Falmouth as its own place. The maritime line joins them. There is no Falmouth page yet.
Will a Cornwall listing show a phone number from this directory?
A town page may show an enquiry line for that town. That is not a county hotline. A future listing would point at a checked business, not at the directory line.

List your business

Cornwall repairers who want to be named should wait until we can check the business against a Google place id. Send nothing secret to this page. There is no form yet. When a card appears it will say which town it belongs to, and a paid slot will be marked as paid.
