Computer repair in Truro
Truro is Cornwall's only city, the place many county errands already end. A computer repair here is often someone who has driven in, not someone who lives above the shop.
Call our Truro enquiry line. The number is 01872 228877. Use it for questions about computer repair in Truro. computer-repair.uk answers that line. There is no Truro shop, counter or street address attached to it.
Cathedral, Lemon Quay, council offices
Truro Cathedral marks the centre on every approach. Lemon Quay is the open space people use as a meeting shorthand. The council's main offices are in the city, so weekdays have a civic rhythm as well as a shopping one. None of that is a repair shop. It does tell you when the streets are busy: late morning on a weekday, and whenever the county has come in to shop.
The centre's streets are tight. A laptop is a pedestrian object. A desktop from a village hall is a vehicle object. If you are coming from the west, decide before you hit the one-way system whether you are parking or being met. Circling with a tower on the passenger seat is not a plan.
This directory has not stood in every side street and counted premises. We will not claim the city is well supplied or poorly supplied. We will say the centre is small enough that a real workshop is findable on foot if it exists, and a pretend one is findable only as an advert.
Arriving by train or by the A39
Truro station is on the main line, with the maritime branch down to Falmouth. That branch is the right tool for a laptop from Penryn. It is the wrong tool for a heavy machine. The A39 and A390 bring drivers in from the coast and from St Austell. Holiday weeks thicken both.
Park-and-ride is part of how Truro copes. Use it for a rucksack. Do not use a park-and-ride bus as the way you move a full desktop unless you enjoy lifting it twice more than necessary. If a workshop sits on an edge-of-city estate, drive there and skip the cathedral quarter entirely.
People from quite far west treat Truro as 'town'. That habit makes collection areas look bigger than they are. A repairer may be happy to see you if you come in, and unwilling to drive to Helston after lunch. Those are both reasonable. Ask which one you are being offered.
County-town machines
Office laptops from the civic and professional crowd fail in ordinary ways: worn batteries, cracked casings from being opened on trains, docks that no longer click. A shop till near Lemon Quay fails in public, at the worst hour. Say if the machine takes card payments. Preserving that setup matters more than a shiny reinstall.
Village desktops that come in on a Friday often carry the only copy of club accounts or family scans. Clicking noises mean stop. Do not let a helpful relative 'run chkdsk' as a favour on the way into the city. Checking a dying disk hard is a good way to make the lab's job worse.
Students and college machines show up with charger faults and account locks. A lock is not a hardware fault. Bring the login or accept that the data stays sealed. Nobody in Truro can honestly invent your password.
Sending a disk further up the peninsula
Truro is central in Cornwall and still far from a national parts hub. A disk that needs a clean lab may travel a long way east. That can be the right call. It should be a named lab, a named price limit, and a date you understand. 'We'll send it off' is not a sentence with a custodian in it.
If you live down the Falmouth branch, agree how the machine returns. A finished laptop sitting in Truro while you are on a shift in Penryn is a poor ending. Delivery, a pickup window, or a clear 'come back Tuesday' are all fine. Silence is not.
Backups are boring until the cathedral quarter has your only disk. If the computer still works tonight, copy the Documents folder somewhere else before you book anything.
Time, stock and Cornish roads
A part that reaches Exeter in the morning may still be crossing Cornwall in the afternoon, and it may not move at all on a jammed summer Saturday. Truro feels central locally. National couriers feel the peninsula. Quote dates with that in mind, and distrust anyone who promises a rare part 'by tea' without checking stock.
Common batteries and chargers are the jobs that fit a city week. Liquid damage and rare screens are the jobs that do not. Spill on a Wednesday, keep it off, and you have given the board a chance. Spill on a Wednesday, keep typing, and you have cooked it before you reached Lemon Quay.
No average turnaround is published here. We did not measure one.
Choosing a Truro counter
Pick a door you can find after the one-way system has confused you once. Get the diagnostic fee in writing. Ask if they collect from Falmouth or only accept city drop-off. Ask if the disk stays in Cornwall. Pay attention to whether they talk about your files before they talk about a new machine.
A glossy advert that says 'Cornwall' and will not name a Truro street is advertising a region, not offering a bench. Regions do not hold screwdrivers.

Who comes into Truro
- Falmouth and Penryn — Down the maritime line and the road. Close in Cornish terms, still a separate place. There is no Falmouth page yet.
- St Austell — East along the main line. People travel between them for shops. A Truro bench is not automatically a St Austell collection round.
- Redruth — West on the A30 corridor. Named so readers do not assume one city covers the old mining towns.
- Perranporth and the coast — A drive to the north coast. Mention the village. Do not expect a city counter to know your lane.
- Liskeard — Well to the east. Linked only because both are Cornwall guides on this site, not because they are neighbours.

Truro questions
- Does this Truro guide mean you cover the whole of Cornwall?
- No. It is about the city and the trips people already make into it. West Penwith, the Lizard and the north coast are not Truro. The Cornwall hub says the same, at more length.
- Is Lemon Quay a good place to hand over a computer?
- It is a good landmark and a bad custody arrangement. Meet at a workshop door, or keep the machine with you until you are inside one.
- Has a Truro repair business been checked for this directory?
- Not yet. No shop name or rating is shown. The enquiry line answers questions about this Truro guide. It is not a business card, and a place id can be added later, after a check.
- I came in on the Falmouth branch. Can the machine come back the same way?
- A laptop can, if you carry it. Arrange the day. Do not expect the workshop to put a desktop on the train for you unless they have explicitly agreed.
List your business
Truro repairers who want a card should wait for the check. We will want a place id, not a brochure pasted into the guide. The enquiry line is for readers of this page. It does not put a business on the list.
